Tacoma Pride Festival

Tacoma Pride is a one-day festival produced by the Rainbow Center in partnership with Parks Tacoma. The 2026 festival returned to Wright Park, where the event began, and ran from noon to 6 p.m. with free community yoga beforehand. It includes entertainment and vendor booths.

Tacoma Pride Festival is organized and trademarked by the Rainbow Center, and it is the largest Pride celebration in Tacoma. The main event falls on the second Saturday of July, and the festival has grown from a single day into a series of events throughout the month, some hosted by community partners. The City of Tacoma has proclaimed July as Tacoma Pride Month. The festival makes a point of featuring local entertainers, makers, artists, businesses and organizations.

The July date has a history. The festival's predecessor, Out In The Park, chose July because the event was held outdoors and the month offered less chance of rain. The Rainbow Center also coordinates with other South Sound Prides so that people have options from mid-May through late August.

The 2026 festival returned to Wright Park, where the event began, through a partnership with Parks Tacoma that the Rainbow Center credits with making the day more accessible and inclusive. Sponsorships at several levels help keep the festival free, and the Rainbow Center recruits volunteers and vendors each year.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held July 11, 2026. It usually falls a Saturday in mid-July.
