PRIDENTON (Denton Pride)

PRIDENTON is a Denton nonprofit that organizes a month of Pride events rather than a single festival. Signature events are Pride Path, a family sidewalk chalking morning on the Courthouse Lawn, and Night OUT, a reverse Pride parade at the Quakertown Civic Center where local businesses and groups act as the floats. 2026 marked the group's tenth year.

PRIDENTON sees its June events as part of a larger goal: a 2SLGBTQIA+ community center for Denton. Money raised through the annual events goes toward that plan, and the group also intends to pursue grants for it. Its mission is to lift up 2SLGBTQIA+ communities through advocacy, education and celebration, and it envisions a world where those communities can thrive free of oppressive systems.

Each year PRIDENTON puts a particular population within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community at the center of its programming. In 2017 the focus was trans communities, with the Denton chapter of Trans-cendence leading. The 2019 edition honored activists, artists and elders for the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. In 2020 the theme Queer in it TOGETHER addressed unity during the pandemic and the racial justice uprising, and in 2021 Queer Skies Ahead focused on disability justice.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.

PRIDENTON (Denton Pride) has included chalk walk, reverse parade, workshops, panel and dance party.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 5-28, 2026. It usually falls events throughout June.
