San Francisco Pride

San Francisco Pride is a free two-day celebration at Civic Center Plaza, capped by a Sunday parade that travels up Market Street from the Embarcadero. The 2026 edition was the 56th annual celebration and parade. The celebration features a main stage, community-run stages and venues, and hundreds of parade contingents.

San Francisco Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and one of the largest LGBTQ+ gatherings in the world, drawing more than one million people, over 200 parade contingents and exhibitors across community-run stages and venues. The 2026 theme was Resistance in Action, and the organization's guiding words are educate, commemorate, celebrate and liberate.

The weekend doubles as a mutual aid effort. Through its Community Partners Program, funds raised during the celebration go directly back to local grassroots LGBTQ+ groups. Stages have included a Women's Stage presented by the Dykes Only Space, and sponsorship tiers range from large brands to small neighborhood shops and individual donors, whose gifts help keep the event free.

Parade awards are presented with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who convene a community panel of judges. The judges watch every contingent from the main grandstands on Market Street and honor marching groups, musical performances and the entries that best capture the year's theme. The 57th annual celebration and parade is set for June 26 and 27, 2027.

Pride events celebrate LGBTQ+ people and mark the Stonewall uprising of June 1969. Most combine a parade or march with a festival of performers, community groups, vendors and food.
