Philly Dyke March

The Philly Dyke March is a grassroots march that opens with a rally and steps off at noon. It is free and open to the public and is followed by an after-party.

The Philly Dyke March describes itself as a protest, not a parade. It is a grassroots, all-volunteer rally and march held each year on the same weekend as Philly Pride, with no permits or sponsors, and it is funded entirely by community fundraising. All dykes are welcome regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, age, ethnicity, income or immigration status, and organizers explain the term as a reclaimed identity that now spans lesbian, queer, bisexual, trans and nonbinary people.

The rally gathers at Louis I. Kahn Memorial Park at 11th and Pine Streets, where the march begins and ends. The route is about a mile on fairly flat ground and moves slowly, taking roughly an hour. For safety, the exact route is not released until the day, and volunteer marshals lead it. Riders of motorcycles, bicycles, scooters and other wheels can register to ride along. Parking is limited, and organizers suggest the Lombard-South station on the Broad Street Line.

An accessibility table offers mobility aids loaned by TECHOwl, and paratransit pickups can use Giovanni's Room at 345 South 12th Street. Masks, rapid Covid tests, Narcan, water and snacks are free at the rally, with some gluten-free, nut-free and vegan options. Free rapid testing for hepatitis C and several STIs has also been offered. After the march, an after-party is held at Little Gay Pub.

Dyke Marches are grassroots marches for lesbian, bisexual and queer women and gender-expansive people, usually non-commercial and often held the same weekend as the city's main Pride.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held June 6, 2026. It usually falls saturday before the Philly Pride March, early June.
