About Putnam Pride
Putnam Pride begins with a rally and march at the Putnam County Courthouse in Carmel, followed by a celebration at Veterans Memorial Park with a flag raising, performers and an open mic. 2026 was the seventh annual event.
Putnam Pride is a grassroots group working to build a welcoming community where queer people of all ages can gather and celebrate in Putnam County. It says it takes an intersectional approach that puts the most marginalized groups at the center and uses its platform to push for change, and its stated positions include support for Black Lives Matter, trans rights, immigrants and the right to protest.
The 2026 celebration drew a broad range of tables, from health providers such as Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, Northwell Health and the Putnam County Department of Health to arts groups such as Hudson Valley Shakespeare, the Brewster Theater Company and Magazzino Italian Art. Advocacy groups, the Trevor Project, the Putnam County Libraries Association, local counselors and makers also took part, and local food vendors sold everything from savory dishes to pastries and ice cream. The group also raised money for local families affected by immigration enforcement.
