Pacific Northwest Black Pride Weekend

Pacific Northwest Black Pride holds a Black Pride Weekend in Seattle each August as part of its Black August programming. The weekend includes an opening reception with a Trailblazer Awards ceremony and community events, and a faith celebration kicks off the season. The 2026 theme was Ubuntu Rising, Our Collective Power.

Pacific Northwest Black Pride produces events and programs aimed at inclusion, equality and visibility in the region and beyond. It frames Pride as resistance to hate and discrimination and seeks to help communities of color preserve their place in history while opening new opportunities for growth.

Year-round work includes a monthly happy hour for connecting and unwinding, and the Sisters Together for Empowerment Program, known as S.T.E.P. The program supports belonging, safety, economic empowerment and health access for Black queer women in Seattle and nearby communities through monthly support circles, financial empowerment workshops, intergenerational knowledge sharing and micro-grants for vendors.

PNW Black Pride is a member of the Center for Black Equity, an international association of Black LGBT Pride organizers that supports more than 40 groups planning Black Pride events around the world. It also lists memberships in ILGA, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association.

The organizer has not announced dates for 2027 yet. In 2026 it was held August 21-23, 2026. It usually falls a weekend in late August (Black August).
